We have “people” with different identities (e.g., being a victim of emotions) who have feelings and preferences, etc. Time is also being constructed by saying, “When. . . .” In this context “when” is obviously referring to the past. Again, this conversation could go on for several minutes, either reaching some level of agreement, or with the participants coming to the conclusion that they have different experiences of the nondual!]
